Selena Gomez's vow to remain pure until marriage was a choice she made to avoid the hardships her mother faced as a pregnant teen. "My mother had me at 16," she reveals in a new interview (J-14 via OceanUP.) Gomez says her stance on sex is "a promise to myself, to my family and to God... People say, 'She's trying too hard.' I'm not trying to be anybody but myself," she said.

Selena Gomez: actress, singer, role model
I came across this article while I was googling Selena and I really loved it! It talks about how Selena is being a good role model and how she can inspire the others to do great things as well. Read it Below.
Good role models are often hard to find, which makes Selena Gomez such a rarity. The adorable “Wizards of Waverly Place” has been named UNICEF’s youngest ambassador, where she will “use her voice, recognition and commitment to children’s issues to fund raise and educate” for the organization.
Gomez spoke about her new title and what it means to her:
“Everyday 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with UNICEF in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero. I know we can achieve this because every moment, UNICEF is on the ground providing children with the lifesaving assistance needed to ensure zero becomes a reality.”
While in Africa she will witness first-hand the stark conditions of the many children that lack necessities including clean water, food, education and any healthcare. Gomez joins a world-class roster of celebrities who have acted as UNICEF ambassadors through the years, beginning with Danny Kaye (50 years ago) and still counting with more than 100 stars of film, sports, literature and music including Harry Belafonte, Mia Farrow, Shakira, Audrey Hepburn, Susan Sarandon and Sir Roger Moore. Gomez has shown by her actions that she is a great role model and one that can inspire teens and tweens to find ways to reach out and help others. And that is a great thing.
